The XPeng G6 electric vehicle has entered the UK market, with its manufacturer aiming to offer a high-tech, premium EV at a competitive price. The vehicle features 800V architecture and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, enabling standard models to charge at up to 382kW. Long Range and Performance models boast an industry-leading 451kW, which can top up the battery from 10-80% in approximately 12 minutes, adding over 200 miles of range.
The G6 is positioned to attract the lowest rates of Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax, making it a suitable option for corporate fleets and salary sacrifice schemes. Notably, even the dual-motor all-wheel drive Performance 'Black Edition' is priced at £49,990, which is £10 below the £50,000 threshold for the Expensive Car Supplement. This strategic pricing helps buyers avoid an additional £440 annual road tax bill from years two to six.
The vehicle comes with a generous array of standard equipment, including heated and ventilated electric front seats, heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control, and a heated steering wheel. Technology features include a 15.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch driver instrument display, and an 18-speaker XOPERA sound system. The G6 also offers a boot capacity of 571 litres, expanding to 1,374 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
In terms of performance, the entry-level Standard Range model delivers 258PS and accelerates from 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds. The dual-motor Performance model increases power to 487PS, achieving 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds.
