LPGA golfer Lottie Woad has been denied her third LPGA title in a thrilling play-off at the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan, USA. Woad, who is currently ranked the world number seven, led overnight but slipped up on the final hole, allowing Japanese rival Miyu Yamashita to steal the win.
Yamashita, who is ranked the world number eight, fired a stunning final-round 64 to close the gap with Woad. The 24-year-old birdied five of her first seven holes, including the par-four 17th, to move into contention.
Woad and Yamashita replayed the final hole, with Yamashita getting closer to the pin on the third shot. She then rolled in a birdie putt to secure her third LPGA title and deny Woad the win.
The Meijer LPGA Classic is one of the most prestigious women's golf tournaments in the world, and Woad's performance is a testament to her skill and determination. Despite falling short, Woad has already claimed two LPGA wins this season and will no doubt be looking to bounce back in future competitions.
