Nineteen-year-old winger Yan Diomande is reportedly set to join Real Madrid in a record-setting transfer, with the Spanish giants expected to pay over £100 million. This move would make him Real Madrid's new record signing and RB Leipzig's record sale.
Diomande's rapid ascent also sees him become the most expensive African player in history. Less than 18 months ago, the Ivory Coast international was largely unknown, having previously played for Florida-based DME Academy before signing with La Liga side Leganes.
After just 10 games in the Spanish top flight, Diomande's market value increased considerably, leading to a 20 million euro move to RB Leipzig. In his first full season in Europe with Leipzig, he scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions.
Despite initial intentions from Leipzig to keep him for another year, high demand from clubs including Liverpool, Paris St-Germain, and Real Madrid led to the Bundesliga side agreeing to a deal. Diomande is described as a hyper-athletic and creative winger, considered among Europe's best dribblers, who can play on both wings.
