South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho, acclaimed for his 2016 film 'Train to Busan', is bringing his latest zombie feature, 'Colony', to UK cinemas on August 28. The film marks his fourth venture into the zombie genre, though it is not tied to the 'Train to Busan' universe.
'Colony' is described as an intense blend of action, bodily carnage, and unexpected sentimentality. The plot centres on a biotech terrorist who unleashes a pathogen at a science conference, with the majority of the action unfolding within a commercial tower block.
Yeon Sang-ho commented that zombie movies consistently represent current fears, making them feel fresh. He stated that 'Colony' explores the confrontation between individuality and collectiveness in modern society, a theme he developed with co-writer Choi Gyu-seok.
