A bed and breakfast in York has been recognised as the best of its kind in England. MonkBridge House, a family-run guesthouse, received the top prize at Visit England’s Awards for Excellence, which are now in their 35th year.
The awards celebrate leading tourism businesses across England, acknowledging their quality, innovation, and customer service. MonkBridge House, located a 10-minute walk from York Minster, was built in 1864 and features eight refurbished rooms.
Second place was awarded to One Drake Road guest house in Tavistock, Devon, an 18th-century inn with six bedrooms and five private apartments. Holly Lodge Boutique Bed & Breakfast in Norfolk secured third place, offering rooms in an 18th-century building and a shepherd's hut.
Andrew Stokes, Visit England Director, congratulated the recipients, stating the awards highlight the excellence of England's tourism industry.
