York Valkyrie have made history by becoming the first team to win the Betfred Women's Super League three times, after a surprise 8-6 victory over Wigan Warriors in the Grand Final.

The match, held at the Brick Community Stadium, saw York withstand significant pressure in a scoreless second half. A first-half try from Sinead Peach and two goals from Ellie Williamson secured the win for York.

Wigan, who were considered favourites, had Mia-Jayne Atherton and Eva Hunter sin-binned during the first half. Teenager Amelie Lenham was noted for crucial interventions in York's defensive effort.
