Yorkshire Wildlife Park has reopened for the first time since a man was killed by a tiger in an enclosure. William Chapman, 24, was mauled to death at the park near Doncaster on Saturday.
An inquest into Mr Chapman's death, which opened on Thursday, heard of his history of mental illness and a diagnosis of schizophrenia. His family reportedly expressed concerns about his contact with mental health services leading up to his death.
City of Doncaster Council, the park's licensing authority, is conducting a health and safety investigation. The park confirmed it would reopen on Friday after "engagement with the relevant authorities".
The "Land of the Tiger" area, where the incident occurred, has also reopened. The park stated that the tiger involved, Altai, is "safe and well" and will not be euthanised, with its welfare remaining a priority.
The Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust, which had cared for Mr Chapman, has launched an investigation. The inquest has been adjourned until 18 March 2027.
