British YouTuber and musician Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has described the night he met a fan in a Perth nightclub before allegedly raping her. Barrientos is currently on trial, facing six charges of sexually penetrating a 20-year-old woman without consent in a Perth hotel room in September 2024. He also denies impeding her breathing by applying pressure to her neck and three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
During his testimony in the West Australian district court, Barrientos stated he met the 20-year-old woman at a nightclub called Bar1 after his performance. He told the court, "I fancied her and we got chatting. The vibes were good, and she had a really good energy about her." He further explained that he asked the woman to accompany him back to his hotel room while they were in the VIP area of the club, believing they would have consensual sex.
Barrientos claimed they later left the nightclub in a mini-van with his entourage and travelled to the Intercontinental Hotel in Perth’s CBD, where he alleged they had consensual sex. He described the encounter as "great," with "grunting and moaning in a good way." However, he denied the allegations of choking and slapping the woman, as presented in court. He did, however, admit to biting her numerous times, referring to these as "love bites" and explaining that his mouth and teeth were involved in sucking on her skin.
Under cross-examination by prosecutor Danielle Clarke, Barrientos acknowledged that he did not explicitly ask the woman if she wanted to have sex when he invited her to his hotel, but stated he "could just tell she was into me." He denied the woman's previous testimony that he put his hands down her pants and touched her breast in the club, stating, "It didn’t happen. I recall putting my hand on her waist." He also contradicted her claim that he gave her tequila shots, suggesting these were handed out by the bar manager.
CCTV footage played to the court showed Barrientos and others leaving the venue in Perth’s northern suburbs, with the woman following shortly after and pausing before entering the mini-van. Hotel CCTV further depicted Barrientos striding ahead of his entourage and the woman upon arrival, with the group then entering a lift. Barrientos agreed that the woman's phone was taken from her, as she alleged, stating it was "standard practice for someone in the limelight to protect privacy."
