New Scotland manager Sebastien Pocognoli experienced a challenging Hampden debut as his team, reduced to 10 men, was defeated 3-0 by Switzerland in a Nations League fixture. The 39-year-old Belgian's first home game took a turn for the worse when Jack Hendry was sent off early for denying a goal-scoring opportunity.
Ricardo Rodriguez converted the resulting free-kick, giving Switzerland the lead. Further goals in the second half from Nico Elvedi and Zeki Amdouni secured the victory for the Swiss. Scotland has now failed to score in four straight games and has only one point from their opening two Nations League matches.
Pocognoli made three changes to the starting line-up from Saturday's 0-0 draw in Slovenia. Luis Binks made his debut at centre-back, while Nathan Patterson and Kieron Bowie were also included, bringing the number of Serie A players in the starting XI to four.
Scotland is scheduled to play North Macedonia on Saturday night as Pocognoli seeks to kickstart his tenure.
