While many associate the 1966 World Cup final with Kenneth Wolstenholme's iconic television commentary, one fan remembers a different audio experience. Andrew Keeley, then a 10-year-old, listened to the match on BBC radio.
Keeley was on a family summer holiday in Goathland, a village that had few televisions at the time. Despite his father being invited to watch the game at a neighbour's house, Keeley was unable to attend due to the number of children in his family.
Instead, he listened to the commentary provided by Brian Moore and Alan Clarke on BBC radio, alongside his mother and three younger sisters. Keeley states he still cherishes his memories of the match, despite never having seen it.
