Wabi, an AI startup previously known for its prompt-based app builder, has announced a pivot to an AI messenger experience. The company stated this week that Wabi is now an AI messenger that can still create apps to assist with tasks.
Eugenia Kuyda, Wabi's founder, described the new experience, Wabi 2.0, as a "personal agent that does stuff for you and builds the interface you need in the moment." This new version aims to compete with AI agents that integrate both conversations and productivity tasks within a single interface.
Kuyda explained on X that the new experience addresses consumer desire for more than just typing to an agent, stating that the most powerful agent will combine both chat and software. The concept allows the agent to create a user interface on demand as a user requests a task, such as building a calorie tracker or a calendar of children's activities.
Wabi 2.0 is currently accessible via invite codes, which are being distributed on X.
