The sudden and tragic death of Neil Muller, 54, has left the tech community reeling. The chief executive of Derby-based AI firm Node4 died from a single stab wound to the chest, according to an inquest at Coventry Coroner's Court.
Mr Muller was discovered deceased on June 7th at a property on Langley Road in Claverdon, Warwickshire, prompting a police investigation into his death. The coroner, Sean McGovern, detailed that Mr Muller was found in a downstairs bathroom with a fatal chest wound and a superficial cut to one of his wrists. A weapon was reportedly located in a nearby sink.
Warwickshire Police previously confirmed that a 55-year-old woman from Birmingham had been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with Mr Muller's death. She has since been released on bail as enquiries continue. The post-mortem examination has provisionally attributed the cause of death to the stab wound to the chest, pending further forensic analysis.
Mr Muller joined Node4 in April and had made a significant impact during his short tenure at the company. A spokesperson for Node4 expressed profound sadness at his passing, highlighting his "real energy, momentum and passion" and noting that his loss would be deeply felt across Node4 and within the wider technology industry.
The investigation into Mr Muller's death is ongoing, with the inquest adjourned to an unspecified future date. This will allow the police to present their evidence and for the pathologist to finalise their report.
