Aimee-Ffion Edwards, who portrays MI5 agent Shirley Dander in the Apple TV series Slow Horses, has revealed that her background in rugby contributed to her fearlessness when performing stunts. The actor, who played one match for Wales in her youth, performed a challenging stunt involving jumping off a nightclub balcony multiple times for the upcoming sixth season.
Edwards described the experience as "quite hard," despite being harnessed, and noted that 200 people were watching during filming. Her character, Shirley Dander, is a tough, traumatised agent with an explosive temper.
Beyond her physical roles, Edwards is also lending her voice to Princess Leia in the first-ever Welsh language-dub of the 1977 film Star Wars. This special broadcast is scheduled for Christmas Day in Wales.
