Alaska US Senate candidate Mary Peltola has rejected support from fellow Democrat Kamala Harris, after Harris's political organisation sent an unsolicited fundraising appeal on Peltola's behalf. The email, sent on Wednesday, asked recipients to donate to Fight for the People Pac, an organisation Harris established last year. Donations were to be split between Harris's organisation and Peltola.
A spokesperson for Peltola stated that she is not seeking endorsements from anyone outside of Alaska, with her focus remaining on Alaskan issues. The campaign highlighted endorsements from organisations such as the American Federation of Government Employees and the Alaska American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, as well as over 10,000 Alaskans.
Nate Adams, a spokesperson for Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan, criticised the connection, stating that Alaskans rejected Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Harris, who lost Alaska by 13 points in her unsuccessful White House run, replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic 2024 presidential candidate.
