Alex Scott, the former Football Focus host, has departed her role as a presenter for the Women’s Champions League coverage on Disney+. It is understood that Scott made the decision to step away to concentrate on other ventures, including her new show, One More Word WSL, which she co-hosts with former England internationals Anita Asante and Fara Williams.
Scott had fronted the streaming platform's coverage of the elite women’s European club competition since Disney+ acquired the rights in 2025. This season, Disney’s production levels drew criticism following technical problems during the opening round of fixtures. These issues included an unscheduled advert break that interrupted Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over HB Køge for over three minutes.
A spokesperson for Disney+ expressed gratitude for Scott's contributions, stating: “Her passion for the women’s game and the competition shone through throughout her time with us, and we are grateful for all she contributed. We wish her every success.” Scott's representatives also conveyed her appreciation for the opportunities and her hope for future collaborations.
Scott, who turned 42 on Wednesday, launched One More Word WSL through her own production company, First Cap Productions Limited, at the start of this Women’s Super League campaign. She previously stated that the show was created in response to the BBC cancelling its weekly WSL highlights programme. Scott also commented on the criticism of Disney's coverage, saying, "Ultimately, do I agree with all the decisions that were made? Absolutely not. Did I try and advise? Yes, but I can only do so much."
The presenter’s relationship with Disney is reported to remain positive. Disney, whose coverage is produced by ESPN, secured an exclusive five-year deal for the Women’s Champions League across European broadcast territories in 2025. The presenting team is understood to continue with Shebahn Aherne, Nedum Onuoha, and Lianne Sanderson, alongside commentators such as Vicki Sparks and Jacqui Oatley. The competition is set to resume on 28 October.
