Colton Dunn, one of the writers for the new Ali G film, 'Ali G: Who Iz I?', has defended the movie against accusations of perpetuating racial stereotypes. Dunn stated that Ali G is "a tool to expose racists," rather than a racist character himself.
The film, which sees Sacha Baron Cohen reprise his role, has drawn criticism, with a media monitoring organisation, NewsCord, leading an email campaign. This campaign encourages cinemagoers to contact cinema chains to request they do not show the movie. Over 55,000 emails have been sent as part of the campaign.
Cinema chain Picturehouse has indicated it has "no current plans" to screen the film. 'Ali G: Who Iz I?' is scheduled for release on October 23.
