The Beach Boys have abruptly cancelled several dates for their 'Pet Sounds 60' tour, which was due to commence today, September 24. The iconic psych-pop group had planned to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their seminal album 'Pet Sounds'.
The cancelled shows include dates in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and two performances in South Carolina. No official explanation has been provided for the cancellation, though venues cited "circumstances beyond [our] control."
Concerns regarding the health of Mike Love, the band's only remaining original member, have been noted throughout the tour. A reviewer in May described Love's voice as "reduced to a whisper," and the band subsequently cancelled dates due to an unspecified illness affecting him. Brian Wilson, another iconic frontman, died last June aged 82.
The band is currently scheduled to resume their tour on October 9 at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, Illinois.
