Brendan Allen secured a significant victory in Las Vegas, submitting British fighter Christian Leroy Duncan in the fifth round. The win, achieved via a rear-naked choke, has derailed Duncan's aspirations for a middleweight title shot.
Duncan, 31, entered the bout on a five-fight winning streak and had expressed his intention to pursue a title fight if he convincingly defeated Allen. Despite being the busier striker, landing 138 shots to Allen's 80, the American dominated the grappling exchanges.
Allen, 30, extended his own winning streak to four, bringing his record to 28 wins and seven defeats. He is now setting his sights on Sean Strickland's middleweight belt, stating, "I think we'll be rewarded next."
In the co-main event, fellow Briton Jai Herbert claimed a unanimous decision victory over Brazilian lightweight Matheus Camilo. This marks Herbert's third win in four UFC fights.
