Defending champion Jacob Kiplimo returns to the Chicago Marathon on Sunday 11 October, with the race starting and finishing in Grant Park. The Ugandan won his first major marathon in Chicago 12 months ago and ran the third-fastest marathon in history in London in April, a time of 2:00:28.
The men's elite field also includes Amos Kipruto, who has a personal best of 2:01:39, and Milkesa Mengesha at 2:03:17. The women's elite field is headlined by Brigid Kosgei, back in the city where she claimed the world record in 2019 with 2:14:04.
The flat and fast course takes in 29 neighbourhoods on the 26.2-mile route. Viewers in the United Kingdom can tune in via HBO Max from 1.15pm BST. The men's and women's professional start is at 1.30pm BST, with the professional wheelchair races beginning at 1.20pm and 1.21pm BST.
