Amanda Staveley, along with her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi and other partners, has agreed to purchase a 25.1 per cent stake in West Ham United. The deal involves acquiring the shares owned by Vanessa Gold, daughter of former West Ham co-owner David Gold.
Staveley, previously involved with Newcastle United, indicated her plans for a "big property play" in English football. She stated, "Whatever club we take, there’ll be a big property play as well," adding, "We won’t just do a football-led."
The investment, reportedly £150m, could value the Championship club at £600m. Staveley hinted that the deal might lead to changes at the London Stadium, which West Ham currently rents.
Vanessa Gold confirmed the agreement to sell her family's shareholding to a consortium of PCP Capital Partners, led by Staveley and Ghodoussi, in partnership with Ashland Forest Capital Partners. She noted that the process has not yet concluded.
However, Royal Mail proprietor Daniel Kretinsky could still acquire the Gold stake, as he appeared to have agreed a deal earlier this year and holds pre-emption rights.
