An amateur football club from Gloucester, Longlevens AFC, has secured a £1 million Lotto prize. The win comes after the club's long-serving president, Bill Davis, purchased weekly tickets using the same numbers for more than three decades on behalf of the club.
Longlevens AFC matched five main numbers and the bonus ball in a draw held last month. Mr Davis, 73, who has been connected to the club for over 50 years, stated that the money is for the club and will help secure its future for generations.
The winning Lotto numbers – 1, 9, 15, 21, 32, 51 – were originally chosen by six committee members when the National Lottery began. Mr Davis confirmed the club plans to use the windfall for lasting benefits, including the possible purchase of their leased facilities. Andy Carter from National Lottery operator Allwyn described the win as "truly remarkable."
