Amazon has blocked Meta's AI assistant, Muse, from making purchases on its platform. Users attempting to buy items on Amazon through Muse began encountering an error message on Sunday night, 20 September 2026.
The message indicated that "Continued access by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon’s Conditions of Use, to which our customers have agreed." This means Muse is no longer able to complete purchases on Amazon.com.
The block could be attributed to Amazon's own AI initiatives and inference platforms. Additionally, Amazon may be hesitant to engage in agent-driven commerce at this stage, potentially due to the complexities of managing customer and vendor issues arising from AI-generated orders, as AI models still have a non-zero hallucination rate.
