Amy Winehouse's former band has announced a special London show, 'Back To Black 20', to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her second album. The concert is scheduled for October 21 at the Roundhouse in Camden.
The Amy Winehouse Band will perform 'Back To Black' in its entirety. Original album producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, along with Winehouse’s long-time musical director Dale Davis, will lead the performance. A range of guest vocalists, including Baby Rose, Corinne Bailey Rae, FLO, Jessie Reyez, Jorja Smith, Lianne La Havas, Nia Smith, Sasha Keable, Skye Newman, and Yebba, are set to appear.
Mark Ronson stated he is "honoured to be asked to come celebrate Amy alongside Salaam and some amazing artists worthy of singing her songs." He added that "doing justice to the legacy of ‘Back To Black’ is the order of the night." Salaam Remi commented on how quickly time has passed, expressing excitement to see what the guest vocalists bring to the songs.
The concert will be recorded for broadcast, with BBC Two airing it later in October as part of a night dedicated to Winehouse. BBC Radio 2 will also broadcast the show on October 26 between 7pm and 9pm as part of Jo Whiley’s programme.
This event is part of a wider programme marking two decades of 'Back To Black'. A deluxe 20th anniversary reissue of the album, featuring previously unreleased demos and bonus tracks, is due for release on October 23.
