Welsh cyclist Anna Morris has clinched a Commonwealth Games gold medal in the 4,000m individual pursuit final in Glasgow. Morris delivered a commanding performance to defeat England's Josie Knight, securing the top spot on the podium.
The rivalry between the Great Britain team-mates was evident, with Knight recording the fastest qualifying time earlier in the day. However, Morris triumphed in the final with a time of 4:24:272.
Following her gold medal win, Morris competed in the scratch race, finishing second behind Australian winner Georgia Baker. However, she was later demoted from the podium after being relegated for entering the sprinter's lane while a New Zealand opponent was already there.
This marks the first time the individual pursuit event has been held over 4,000m at the Commonwealth Games, having previously been a 3,000m contest.
