Anne Oxborough, a dedicated English teacher and educational leader, has died unexpectedly at the age of 72. She devoted her career to teaching in schools and colleges, rising to assistant principal at Exeter College.

After graduating from Birmingham University, Ms Oxborough taught at Harriet Costello school in Basingstoke, Normanton high school in Pontefract, and Bideford school in Devon. In 1991, she joined Exeter College as a lecturer, progressing to senior leadership and assistant principal. She was instrumental in the college becoming an outstanding tertiary institution and helped establish the international baccalaureate in its curriculum.

Ms Oxborough was appointed OBE in 2013, nominated by the principal and governors of Exeter College. Following her retirement in 2013, she served as a governor and later as an influential chair of governors at Exeter Maths School, established in 2014, remaining in the role until her death.
