Another monthly bill is going up for millions of UK households, as Apple TV+ joins the growing list of subscription services hiking their prices during the cost of living crisis. The streaming platform will now cost £2 more per month – adding £24 a year to family budgets already stretched thin.
From £6.99 to £8.99 monthly, or £69 to £89 annually – that's the new reality for Apple TV+ subscribers. It's the second price jump in just over a year, after the service increased from £4.99 monthly in October 2022. For context, that's an 80% price rise since then.
The good news? You won't see the increase immediately. Existing subscribers will continue paying their current rate until their next billing cycle or renewal date kicks in. This gives you time to decide whether the service still offers value for your household.
Apple isn't alone in this trend. Netflix, Disney+, and other major platforms have all pushed up prices recently, citing rising content costs and inflation. Whilst understandable from a business perspective, it's creating real pressure for families trying to manage multiple streaming subscriptions.
If you're feeling the pinch, now might be the perfect time for a subscription audit. List out all your monthly services – streaming, music, apps – and honestly assess which ones you actually use. Many families find they can save £20-50 monthly by cancelling forgotten or rarely-used subscriptions. Consider sharing family plans with relatives, or rotating services seasonally to catch up on specific shows without paying year-round.
