John Ternus, Apple's new CEO, led the company's annual showcase of new iPhones and other products on Wednesday. This marked the first public appearance for Ternus in his role, following Tim Cook and Steve Jobs.
The event began with a video montage, after which Cook introduced Ternus. Ternus expressed his privilege in representing Apple's teams, stating he has spent much of his life at the company and is inspired by its pursuit of excellence.
Ternus, who has worked at Apple for 25 years, is known for a calm manner and attention to detail. He started at the company in 2001, becoming vice-president of hardware engineering in 2013 and heading the entire hardware department by 2021.
Apple is anticipated to make significant announcements at its "Surprise and Shine" event in Cupertino, California. These are expected to include the company's first foldable phone and major upgrades to its iPhone and Apple Watch lines.
Bob O’Donnell, president and chief analyst of Technalysis Research, noted that Ternus introducing the expected foldable iPhone is symbolic, indicating a new era of more interesting products under his leadership.
