Applications for the 2026-2027 Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK are now open for Indian citizens. The application window runs from 4 August to 6 October 2026.
These scholarships provide full financial support for a one-year master's degree at any UK university. Applicants must be Indian citizens with at least two years of work experience acquired after completing their undergraduate degree.
The Chevening programme in India is described as the largest globally, having supported 4,000 awardees since its inception in 1983. Ben Mellor, Acting British High Commissioner to India, stated that education is a key pillar of the UK-India Vision 2035 and that Chevening is a flagship programme.
The programme in India is supported by various government and industry partners, including state governments such as Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Nagaland, and Karnataka, and TVS Motors. This support aims to ensure the scholarships reach diverse talent across India, including from marginalised communities and tier 2 and 3 cities, while maintaining equal representation of female and male scholars.
