Katie Archibald's long-awaited return to action proved a winning formula for Team GB as they defeated Germany by a convincing seven seconds to retain the Women's Team Pursuit title at the Track Cycling World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The 30-year-old Scottish cyclist, who had been sidelined for several months with a hand injury, played a pivotal role in GB's triumph, helping the team to clock a time of 4:10.999 and secure their third consecutive world title in the discipline.
Archibald's experience and guile proved invaluable as she helped to marshal the team's pace, working in tandem with fellow riders Neah Evans, Josie Nelson, and Lauren Dolan to seal a commanding victory over the German quartet, who were forced to settle for silver.
The GB riders were ecstatic after their triumph, with Archibald describing her return to action as 'a dream come true' and praising the team's collective effort: 'It's an incredible feeling to be back on the top step of the podium, and to have done it with such a strong team behind me.'
