Members of the public are being asked to report sightings of a six-banded armadillo named Stanley, who is currently on the loose in East Sussex. The mammal escaped from Animal Magic, a company near Hailsham that organises school visits and birthday parties.

Co-owner Chris Coetzer told BBC Radio Sussex that Stanley had "managed to force a door open" to escape an enclosure. Sightings of the armadillo have been reported on the Cuckoo Trail path, which runs between Hailsham and Polegate.

Mr Coetzer has asked anyone who sees the animal to contact Animal Magic. He suggested Stanley might be drawn towards food smells from a local farm shop or nearby campers.

What this means for you: If you see the armadillo, you are asked to contact Animal Magic.
