Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted his frustration after defenders Piero Hincapié and Martín Zubimendi sustained ankle injuries during a warm-down session. The incident occurred after Arsenal's victory against Leeds on Saturday.
Both players are scheduled for scans today, Monday, to assess the full extent of the damage. Arteta confirmed that they will be unavailable for Tuesday's Champions League fixture at home to Lille, adding that Hincapié's injury "looks a little bit more serious."
Arteta described the situation as "far from ideal" but stated he would not alter the team's post-match routine. He explained that the session was planned for players who did not get enough minutes during the game to maintain their rhythm.
In more positive news for the Gunners, William Saliba has recommenced individual training as he continues his recovery from a back injury sustained at the World Cup. Arteta, however, would not specify a return date for the France defender, indicating it would still be "weeks."
