Rayo Vallecano's first competitive game back at their home ground on Avenida de Albufera in 147 days was abandoned after just 13 minutes of football. The match against Athletic Club was halted due to a widespread fan protest, which saw thousands of paper planes thrown onto the pitch.

Supporters had planned the protest, chanting "Presa, go now!" and launching paper planes in the 13th minute of the game. This action was a demonstration against club president Raúl Martín Presa, whom fans have been urging to leave.

The referee, José María Sánchez Martínez, initially suspended play to clear the pitch. However, after a brief resumption, more paper planes were thrown, leading to the match's abandonment. The protest highlights ongoing issues at the club, including the ground's safety concerns and the departure of key figures like manager Iñigo Pérez and captain Óscar Trejo.
