Arsenal pursue three alternative targets after Vinicius Jr signs new Real Madrid deal

Arsenal are exploring alternative options for a left winger after Vinicius Jr extended his contract with Real Madrid. The Gunners had made a serious bid for the Brazilian star.

  • Vinicius Jr signed a contract extension with Real Madrid until 2032 on Thursday.
  • Arsenal are considering Julian Alvarez, Bradley Barcola, and Iliman Ndiaye as alternative left-wing targets.
  • Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle for £75m.

Arsenal are now assessing alternative options for a left winger after missing out on Vinicius Jr, who signed a contract extension with Real Madrid on Thursday. The 26-year-old committed his future to Madrid until 2032, ending speculation about his future.

Mikel Arteta's side had reportedly made a serious bid for Vinicius Jr, with an agreement on personal terms said to be close. However, the Real Madrid superstar ultimately opted to remain at the Bernabeu.

The Gunners are now looking at other players, with Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez admired, particularly by Arteta. Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain is another option, though Liverpool are also reportedly interested and further along in negotiations. PSG's valuation of Barcola at £130m is also said to be above Arsenal's own valuation. Everton's Iliman Ndiaye has also been considered by Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of signing Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle in a £75m deal. This move for the centre-midfielder is expected to reduce reliance on Declan Rice.
