Premier League champions Arsenal made significant moves in the summer transfer window, securing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for £75m and Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa for £51m, with an additional £4m in add-ons. These acquisitions were part of an ambitious plan that initially featured a shortlist of over 20 players.
Guimaraes, who turns 29 in November, emerged as the primary midfield focus by mid-June, despite other younger targets like Sandro Tonali and Alex Scott being explored. Konsa was identified as manager Mikel Arteta's first-choice defensive option, with his versatility to play at right-back being a key factor.
While the club strengthened in midfield and defence, the pursuit of a marquee attacker ended in disappointment. Morgan Rogers was Arsenal's primary attacking target, but a deal could not be reached with Aston Villa, who valued the player at £100m. However, Christos Tzolis, a £35m arrival from Club Brugge, has been hailed as one of the summer's discoveries. Arsenal also made Piero Hincapie's loan permanent and signed Illan Meslier on a free transfer.
