Mikel Arteta has expressed a relaxed stance regarding his Arsenal contract, which is set to expire at the close of the upcoming season. The Premier League champions are preparing to face Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City in the Community Shield in Cardiff this Sunday.
Arteta, who became the Premier League's longest-serving manager following Pep Guardiola's departure from City, joined Arsenal in December 2019. He signed a three-year contract extension in September 2024.
The Arsenal manager reassured supporters, stating, “They don’t have to worry about any of that, because I want to be here. I am extremely happy.” He added that while priorities have been elsewhere this summer, particularly strengthening the squad, the club and he feel comfortable that the contract situation “is not going to be an issue.”
Arsenal are currently in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for Jarell Quansah and are also seeking another attacker, potentially if Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus are offloaded. Arteta defended the club's transfer strategy, stating, “I am really happy with the squad, the players that I have and I am really happy with the ambition of the club.”
