Aston Villa claimed their first Premier League victory of the season, defeating Tottenham 3-2 away from home. The result places Tottenham, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, into the relegation zone ahead of the international break.

Tottenham, despite a summer of significant spending, experienced a familiar collapse after Johan Manzambi opened the scoring for Villa in first-half added time. This occurred while Spurs captain Micky van de Ven was receiving treatment off the pitch. Nicolas Jackson added a second goal for Villa in the 67th minute, followed by a long-range strike from Emi Buendia with 11 minutes remaining, securing the points.

Conor Gallagher ended Tottenham's league goal drought, scoring in the 87th minute after the hosts had failed to score in their first four games. Jan Paul van Hecke headed a second late on, but the defeat was met with boos from the home crowd.
