Tottenham's difficult start to the Premier League season continued with a 3-2 home defeat against Aston Villa. The result means Spurs are still searching for their first league win and currently sit in the bottom three.
Manager Roberto de Zerbi described his team as "too fragile" following the loss. Tottenham were temporarily down to 10 men when Johan Manzambi scored Villa's opener, with Micky van de Ven receiving treatment for a blow to the face. Goals from Nicolas Jackson and Emi Buendia then put the visitors 3-0 up.
Despite late goals from Conor Gallagher and Jan Paul van Hecke, Tottenham's first in the league this season, they offered little consolation. The club has spent over £300m in the summer transfer window, but their struggles persist as they head into a three-week international break.
This marks Tottenham's worst start to a top-flight season since 2008-09, when they also had two points after five games. They have also gone five league games without a win at the start of a season for the first time since 1986.
