At least 11 people have been injured following a shooting outside a high school in Turkey's western province of Manisa. The incident took place at the Inci Uzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School at about 08:00 local time (05:00 GMT) on Tuesday.

The attacker, who opened fire before fleeing the scene, has since been detained, the local governor's office reported. Local media indicated that two of the victims taken to hospital were in critical conditions.

CCTV footage posted online reportedly showed a male near the school carrying a firearm and later fleeing with the weapon. The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear. Turkish media has reported the gunman is a 15-year-old student, though this remains unconfirmed.

Turkey's education ministry stated the incident had "deeply saddened our nation, and our educational community in particular." Three national investigators from the ministry have been sent to Manisa.
