Stephanie Casey, an Australian student, met Jack in Dublin in October 2016 during her exchange programme. Their relationship developed quickly, but her visa meant she had to return to Australia in January, while Jack still had two years of study in Dublin.
Despite the looming separation, Jack packed a pair of his pyjamas into her bag, telling her, "Yes, but I love you more." This gesture provided the answer they needed to give their relationship a chance.
Casey returned to Australia, and they maintained a long-distance relationship for three years, communicating daily. They visited each other in Dublin in 2017, Jack spent six months on exchange in Australia in 2018, and they reunited in Vietnam in 2019.
In early 2020, Jack moved to Australia and later became a citizen. The couple bought a house and a puppy together, and married last year in Dublin, near where they had their first date.
