The body of a newborn baby girl was found on the Menai Strait shoreline near Siliwen Road in Bangor, Gwynedd, on Sunday, according to North Wales Police. Initial indications suggest the baby's body may have been in the water for up to a few weeks.

A post-mortem examination, the results of which were released on Thursday, confirmed the baby was a girl. Further tests are currently underway to gather more information about the baby.

North Wales Police are appealing for the mother to come forward, with Supt Llinos Davies stating that her welfare and safety are their "utmost concern". Fiona Giraud, director of midwifery and women's services for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, also urged the mother to seek support, emphasising that her health, safety, and wellbeing are the immediate priority.
