Geonroung Park, the 17-year-old known as 'Baby Shark Boy' from the globally popular children's song video, has made his debut as a K-pop singer. His first single, 'Wave', was released on Thursday and features Joohoney of Monsta X.
Park was seven years old when he was filmed doing the hand movements for the 'Baby Shark Dance' video a decade ago. This footage has since become the most-watched video in YouTube's history, accumulating over 17.2 billion views and holding the global number one spot for 69 consecutive months.
While Park was the dancer in the viral video, the vocals were performed by another child. He stated his desire to "share my own voice and the stories I’ve written myself." The new single 'Wave' reportedly begins with the familiar 'Baby Shark' melody before transitioning into an electropop sound.
