Racehorse Bacio, ridden by Juan Hernandez, won the Nunthorpe Stakes at York on Friday. The horse, whose name means 'kiss' in Italian, won the five-furlong race by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
Following the victory, jockey Juan Hernandez made a swift departure. He travelled to Heathrow Airport to connect with a 6:15pm flight bound for Los Angeles. Hernandez has booked rides in California for Saturday afternoon.
Trainer Wesley Ward, who watched the race from Kentucky, achieved his first Nunthorpe success with Bacio. The horse had previously won a five-furlong handicap at Royal Ascot in June.
