A hiking tour through the French Alps, organised by Inntravel, starts in La Clusaz and ends in Annecy, passing through Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand. The route offers scenic views of limestone summits, fir and spruce forests, and wildflower meadows.

The first day's hike involves a six-hour, 710-metre ascent, with a panoramic view of the Aravis mountains at Restaurant La Cheminée. The second day is shorter and easier, leading to Le Grand Bornand, where a local produce market was closing as the hiker arrived.

On the third day, temperatures reached 33 degrees, and the writer chose to skip the day's hike, which had an ascent of almost 800 metres. Instead, they travelled to Annecy, where they swam in the lake and visited the basilica.

Annecy is also home to the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, which was underway during the visit. The trip concluded with a meal at Le Fréti, featuring fondue and raclette dishes.

What this means for you: If you are considering a hiking trip in the French Alps, this route offers a mix of difficulty levels, with options to skip harder hikes on hot days.
