Tom Banton's outstanding 126 runs paved the way for England to conclude a turbulent summer with a decisive victory over Sri Lanka. The win at the Kia Oval, by a margin of 223 runs, secured a 2-1 series triumph in the Metro Bank ODI Series.
Banton's century, his first in international cricket, saw him outshine more experienced teammates, scoring 70 of the first 108 runs. Jordan Cox, stepping in for the injured Jos Buttler, also contributed significantly with a breezy 76, helping England post a total of 355 for seven.
Sri Lanka struggled in their chase, collapsing to 132 all out with 20 overs still remaining. Dilshan Madushanka dismissed Ben Duckett for a duck early on, but England quickly recovered. Sonny Baker initiated England's bowling success by taking Pathum Nissanka's wicket, and the entire top three of Sri Lanka's batting order was gone by the 10-over mark. Liam Dawson took three wickets for 26 runs, with Joe Root, Jamie Overton, and Will Jacks each claiming one.
