The Bayeux Tapestry has opened to the public at the British Museum in London, marking its first display in the UK. Visitors described a competitive ticket buying experience, with some comparing it to securing concert tickets.
The medieval artefact, which depicts the Norman conquest and the Battle of Hastings, will remain at the British Museum until July next year. The exhibition has attracted interest from those keen to see the 68-metre tapestry, with some visitors travelling from outside London.
Peak time tickets for the exhibition are priced at £33. Visitors are reportedly allocated 40 minutes to view the tapestry, with attendants described as diligent in managing the flow of people.
