Belgium's Football Association continues to demand answers from FIFA regarding the controversial decision to suspend Folarin Balogun's one-game ban during the recent World Cup. The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) has requested the issue be added to the agenda for the next FIFA Council meeting, scheduled for 15 October.
Balogun, playing for co-hosts USA, received a straight red card in a previous match but was cleared to play against Belgium in the last-16 tie after FIFA suspended his ban for a year. This decision was widely criticised, particularly after reports emerged of lobbying by US President Donald Trump and White House officials.
The RBFA stated on Monday that its questions remain unanswered two months after the events. RBFA president Pascale van Damme emphasised the importance of transparency and clarity, seeking explanations and potential improvements to future processes. The RBFA also confirmed it would not support Gianni Infantino's bid for re-election as FIFA president, citing both the Balogun case and the FIFA Forward Enterprise plan to sell stakes in FIFA competitions as reasons.
