Bella Thorne has announced she will be writing and directing the upcoming sequel to the 2012 film 'Spring Breakers'. Thorne, who was previously announced as a star in the sequel, revealed her expanded role during an appearance on the podcast Call Her Daddy.
The actor stated that producers asked her to write something after watching an early cut of her film 'Colour Your Hurt'. She recalled, "And they loved it! And now I’m writing and directing Spring Breakers 2."
The original 'Spring Breakers' was directed by Harmony Korine and starred Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and James Franco. The sequel is being made without Korine's involvement or approval.
Thorne teased what fans can expect from the new film, saying, "If you want to go to the theater and have fun, you’re going to have fun with this movie, that’s for sure."
