Cameroon's Michaely Bihina was the standout performer as her penalty heroics propelled the Indomitable Lionesses into the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) final. The 22-year-old goalkeeper saved an extra-time penalty and three more spot-kicks in a dramatic shootout against host nation Morocco.
The semi-final clash in Rabat remained goalless after 120 minutes. Bihina denied Fatima Tagnaout from the spot in the 118th minute, ensuring the game proceeded to penalties. In the shootout, she brilliantly kept out efforts from Kenza Chapelle, Maryame Atiq, and Sakina Ouzraoui, leading to a stunned silence at the Moulay Hassan Stadium.
Teenage defender Maryam Nyadjou converted her penalty to seal a 3-1 shootout victory for Cameroon. This remarkable run to the final comes after Cameroon initially exited qualifying but progressed to the tournament based on their world ranking, following the expansion of the competition to 16 teams.
Cameroon will now face Malawi in Sunday's final, scheduled for 19:00 GMT. Malawi secured their place by beating Algeria 3-1 earlier on Wednesday.
