Actor Bill Nighy has been named Best Host at the British Podcast Awards for his series 'Ill-Advised'. The 76-year-old, known for films such as Love Actually, Living, and the Underworld franchise, beat nominees including Louis Theroux, Katherine Ryan, and Lily Allen.
Award organisers described 'Ill-Advised' as an "irresistibly endearing series". The podcast, billed as "a podcast for people who don't get out much and can't handle it when they do," features Nighy giving advice to listeners and reflecting on various topics.
The 10th annual British Podcast Awards, held on Thursday, also saw multiple wins for other creators. Pete Wicks' 'Man Made' received awards for Best Interview Podcast and Best Health & Wellbeing Podcast, while Sean Bean's 'Get Birding' won Best Lifestyle Podcast and Best Video Innovation.
The overall top prize for Best Podcast went to 'Hold or Fold', a series by the Prison Radio Association about problem gambling, which also secured the Best Factual Podcast award. The Listeners' Choice award was won by 'Hard Launch with Dan & Phil', hosted by YouTube veterans Dan and Phil.
