The iconic Blue Note Jazz Club is scheduled to open its first UK venue in London next month. Located on St Martin’s Lane in Covent Garden, the club will open on September 23, coinciding with John Coltrane's 100th birthday.

Five-time Grammy winner Robert Glasper is confirmed to headline the grand opening on September 23 and 24, and will return for additional shows in November. Other artists lined up include Erykah Badu, Jamie Cullum, Nubya Garcia, and Yussef Dayes.

The new Covent Garden venue will feature two performance spaces: a main room with a 250-person capacity hosting two shows nightly, and a 100-capacity ‘B-Side’ room dedicated to emerging talent, which will open later in the year. The club will also offer a contemporary food menu and signature cocktails.

Plans for the club were welcomed by the Music Venue Trust, despite earlier concerns raised by the Met Police and local residents regarding late opening hours.

Why this matters: The opening marks a significant expansion for the legendary jazz club and is seen as a landmark moment for London's music scene, aiming to celebrate both international and British jazz talent.

What this means for you: You can purchase tickets for the first run of shows from 10am BST on Friday, August 14.
